Celebrating Excellence

Mark KowalskiAs we wrap up another successful school year, it is the perfect time to celebrate the excellence throughout this past year.

This year we continued to pursue high-quality educational experiences for all Liberty-Benton students. High school students were able to take part in expanded elective course offerings and online learning opportunities; middle school students were able to access five separate elective experiences through our Encore program; and at our elementary school, some of our students received expanded gifted services and all students participated in our “superhero” literacy theme this year.

The maturity and confidence of our students - especially our most recent grads - never ceases to amaze me. Our Class of 2019 will be attending universities across seven states next year, with 53% of seniors receiving college scholarships. I am appreciative of all of our staff for always providing engaging opportunities that encourage our students to move successfully into the next phase of their lives. Eighty-six percent of our most recent grads earned a collective total of 1,497 semester hours of college credit while attending Liberty-Benton. Talk about being future-ready!

These are just a few highlights of a truly remarkable year, and we are looking forward to continuing on this journey when we return in August.

We couldn’t accomplish our mission of empowering our students to reach their full potential without our supportive community. We want our students to achieve this goal both inside and outside the classroom by being prepared with the knowledge and skills they need for their future; our community plays an important role in achieving this mission. I am humbled by the community for your ongoing support of our students and staff, and I am especially grateful for your support at the ballot this past May.

We will continue working this summer to address the plan for the new pre-kindergarten through 8th-grade building, performing arts center and high school building upgrades. I promise to stay in touch in the coming months about any progress that is made or ways to get involved. After all, these school buildings belong to our community.

I look forward to building our future together.
