The start of a new school year always excites me. As we turn our calendar to August, we begin to see many kids return to campus. Our band is preparing for their marching season and our fall student-athletes officially begin preparations for their season. Before we know it all of our students will meet their new teachers for the year.
This year we will have many “lasts” that will open the doors to many “firsts” when we close the doors to our current building and open the doors to our new pre-K-8 building in the fall of 2023. Our middle school will look a little different this year as we welcome the fifth grade to the middle school family. I’m sure we will encounter challenges as we transition but I envision many positive experiences not only for all of our middle school students but for our district as well.
I want to thank you for the time, energy, and support you continue to pour into the education of our students. Each one of our students needs and depends on the support of our community and time and time again you have provided that. Thank you!
Please feel free to contact me or the office if you have any questions or need anything throughout the year. We are glad to help in any way possible.
From The Desk of Mr. Niekamp (Assistant Principal)
Hello! I would like to introduce myself, my name is Tyler Niekamp and I will be the assistant principal for both the middle school and high school. Previously I’ve been a high school science teacher and basketball coach for the past 12 years, the last ten of which being just up the road at Van Buren.
Some personal information: I have been married to my wife Danielle for eleven years this past July, and we have two kids; Millie (3) and Lucy (5). I’m a proud girl dad as I am fully immersed in all things Barbie, Disney princesses and make up tutorials. We love to travel as a family (we love Lake Erie!), and I come from a large family so we really value time spent together with both immediate and extended family.
I’m really excited to be at Liberty-Benton! I can’t wait to get to know the staff, students and community members that make this school district such a special place. I’m very honored and I look forward to learning from and being a part of a terrific administrative team and teaching staff. Go Eagles!
