26-27 Elks Student of the Month: The Findlay Elks Lodge has provided applications for its Student of the Month program, which runs throughout the school year. This year, two students from each participating school will be recognized each month for November, December, January, and February.
If you are selected as a Student of the Month, you will be notified by text message and invited to attend the monthly recognition ceremony. At the end of the program, in March, the Elks Lodge will select two Students of the Year from Liberty-Benton High School. These students will be selected from the pool of students who were recognized as a Student of the Month and attended the recognition ceremony. You must attend the ceremony to be considered for Student of the Year. Students of the year will receive a cash prize! Applications can be found in the outer guidance office.
ACT Practice Sessions: If you plan on taking the ACT this Spring, and would like extra instruction, attend the ACT Practice Sessions being held at LBHS. These will be held (TBD) and (TBD) from 7:00-8:10 pm and 8:20-9:30 pm each night. During these free sessions, you will become familiar with the ACT format and expectations, identify strengths and areas for improvement before the actual test, and reduce test-day anxiety.
Financial Aid Information: An ONU representative will be at L-B on September 25th to go over basics of financial aid and how to create the FAFSA ID that is needed by both students and parents. Having this completed prior to the October 29th FAFSA meeting is a great way to get started on the financial aid process.
Financial Aid Meeting: This year’s FAFSA presentation will be Wednesday, November 19th @ 6:00pm. This will be held in the Auditorium where a Financial Aid Representative from Ohio Northern University will be presenting. This is not an ONU presentation, but how to navigate the Financial Aid process. I highly recommend attending, especially if you own a family farm there have been many changes to the FAFSA. CCP Student & Parent Presentation: CCP Student & Parent Presentation: The CCP meeting for the 2027-2028 school year is (TBD). If you are unable to attend, but have a student grades 6-11 planning on taking College Credit Plus (CCP) courses here at LB, at Millstream, or at the college during the 2027-2028 school year the attached PowerPoint presentation must be reviewed. The mandated yearly CCP Intent to Participate, LBHS Mandated Counseling, and Textbook paperwork is on the last slide of the PowerPoint presentation. These forms MUST be completed and returned to the counseling office by (TBD) in order for students to take a CCP course during the 2027-2028 school year.
