June 2016 – Eagle Update

Liberty-Benton Shoe Bank

Do you have extra cleats or athletic shoes cluttering your house? Want to help find them a home and help out your LB teammates? We are starting a shoe bank for the LB athletic teams.

Goal: Collect cleats & athletic shoes so if anyone needs to borrow a pair for the season, they will have access to them.

Drop off: If you have cleats or shoes that you would like to donate, please contact Rob Ogborn, 419.889.7670 or [email protected]. We would like to try and start collecting them soon to have them ready for the athletic camps.

Pickup: Contract Rob Ogborn to see what sizes are available and arrange a pick up time.

Returning: At the end of the season, we would like you to return the shoes if still in playable condition.

Elementary School Technology Report for May

The culmination of a Liberty-Benton student’s elementary school years is the infamous State Report. Fifth graders, every year, look forward to this momentous event. This year’s fifth grade rallied around the technology that has been made available to our elementary school students.

Fifth graders used desktops and home computers to research their state for information on: state flowers, statehood dates, population, weather, and early settlers, to name a few. Students then researched the internet to obtain images of the state flower, state bird, and state flag.

Students used their iPads and home computers to type their reports in a word processor. Apps such as Easy Bib were used to create their bibliography. Students also created Excel spreadsheets and imported the data into graphs to display their state’s population over many years, or average rainfall and many other facts.

Fifth graders created a display board highlighting interesting facts about their state, such as: state flag, state maps, and goods and services the state provides. Many students even provided the actual goods for their presentations!

On Tuesday, May 24th, the fifth grade students setup their display boards along with any products they had collected and invited the elementary school to come see their display boards and Tellagami reports. The fifth grad sure ROCKED THE STATE REPORTS!!!!

Z-Club News

Liberty-Benton Z-Club had a great 2015/2016 school year. Great leadership from the club officers and a teacher from Liberty-Benton, Mrs. Amy Teders, served as club advisor. The club finished the year with 56 active club members. We awarded 33 certificates to club members that achieved 15+ hours of service. Two members had 40+ hours each! The club successfully completed 23 projects, which provided 800-hours of service to the school, the community, and a couple international projects.

Through track concessions from a Liberty-Benton Track Invitational, the club raised funds to award three (3) scholarships to club seniors. This year scholarships were awarded to:

Kevin Bartchlett, Club President ($1,000) – Kevin plans to attend Carnegie Mellon University.
Andrew Loughman, Club Attendance Secretary ($500) – Andrew plans to attend Tiffin University.
Matthew Loughman, Club Member ($500) – Matt plans to attend Bowling Green State University.

The Club also donated $500 to Liberty-Benton Music Department from a concession stand proceeds that they did for a Liberty-Benton Musical.
