Students Attend CampMed

Two rising Liberty-Benton ninth grade students, Ashley Miller and Maddy Barker, were selected to attend the CampMed program at the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Science in June!

In order to be chosen for the program, students must be eighth graders moving onto ninth grade, show outstanding achievement in science, and have interest in the medical field. Ashley and Maddy were two of thirty-nine students, from 20 different counties in Ohio, that were chosen to attend CampMed!

This program is a two day educational experience where students have the opportunity to work with UT Med Students to learn about the medical field through many hands-on activities. Throughout the course of the two days, students were able to learn about suturing, casting, CPR, interviewing skills, etc. The laboratory experiments that the students completed covered a wide variety of topics including anatomy, molecular physiology, pharmacology, neurobiology, pathology, and physical diagnosis.
