High School Food Drive

All of Liberty-Benton High School students and staff participated in a ten day food drive for our local Salvation Army. In all, the high school collected over 115 cases of food through their STRIDES groups, and we thank Z-Club members for doing a great job with the sorting and packing. Mrs. Boyd’s STRIDES group set a new record with the amount of food collected by one STRIDES group. We are happy to make a positive difference in our community. #WeAreLB

LBHS Choir Has Highly Successful Year

It has been a highly successful year for the LBHS Choirs. For the first time ever, LBHS had two choirs qualify for OMEA State Adjudicated Event. Another first in the choral department was the junior/senior choir receiving an overall Superior rating in Class B at State Contest. Out of the 113 total students in high school choirs, numerous students were also involved with honor choirs this year.

Hancock County Honor Choir – Jenny Fleck, Hannah Otley, Lydia Mattingly, Schelby Beach, KT Depuy, Gina DeMarsh, Avery Ayers, Lindsey Bishop, Maddie Parmelee, Daultyn Corwin, Kobi Cupp, Shelby Baumlein, Olivia Christiansen, Jessi LaFontaine, Jeb Bishop, Chris Iler, Jon Cade, Asa Baird, Cody Bachorik, Jordan Gottschalk (as well as Honor Band members Madi Brown and Eliza Brisbin)

District 3 Honor Choir – Caisey Hardy-Fowler, Jeb Bishop, Cody Bachorik, Jordan Gottschalk, Kobi Cupp, Jon Cade, Jenny Fleck (as well as honor band member Madi Brown)

All-State Honor Choir – Cody Bachorik, Caisey Hardy-Fowler

This year, LBHS had three ensembles and four soloists perform at OMEA Solo and Ensemble contest in February at Lima Senior High School. An ensemble from Freshman/Sophomore choir performed in Class C and received a Superior rating. We also had a mixed ensemble and a men’s ensemble from Junior/Senior choir give performances at solo and ensemble contest. Both ensembles performed in Class A and both received Superior ratings. All four soloists (Maggie Rucki, Cody Bachorik, Caisey Hardy-Fowler and Jordan Gottschalk) performed in Class A and all also received Superior ratings.

Fermata the Blue has also been having a great year, performing this fall at the Findlay ArtWalk and our home concerts as well as performing in NYC in April. FTB is also planning to perform this Spring at the Findlay ArtWalk, LB Arts Festival and at the Zonta May Banquet!

This has been a fantastic year of growth in the LB Choral Department and we hope to continue the trend next year! We will definitely miss our seniors and we wish them the best as they head out into the “real world!”
